Brother and sister, Camilo and Eloisa enjoy spending time in each other’s company, playing and conversing together. Their friendship and dialogue often inspires their mother Joana Castañeda, a first-grade teacher at Mill Street Elementary School in Orland, to teach her students the importance of clear communication and being kind to one another. The Tranbarger home, located in the Victorian District of Red Bluff on Lincoln Street, is the lovely location for this playful photograph.
Mila Bradley, age 10, and friend Jackie Darrah, age 10, brave the cold to enjoy ice skating at the Siskiyou Ice Rink in Mt. Shasta, CA. Mila’s mom Laura, also pictured, has been playing ice hockey for the last four years. Read all about her experience on page 7. Studying acting for four years at the Redding School of the Arts, this eighth-grader is combining her love of singing and dancing with acting. Music naturally draws young people to learn and enjoy this language of emotion.
