First 5 Shasta (the Shasta Children and Families Commission) is a public organization that was created in 1998 when California voters passed Proposition 10, known as “The Children and Families Act.” We are an autonomous, self-governing Commission with members appointed by the Shasta County Board of Supervisors. Each Commissioner is a community volunteer with specialized expertise or interest in Shasta County’s youngest children.
