10th Annual Pumpkinhead Family Bike Ride
Annual fundraiser to support outdoor education and recreation programs at Whittenberg Country School, this is an all-age event. It includes five there-and-back-again routes: the 5K Seedling, 15K Jack-Be-Little, 25K Jack O’Lantern, 35K Jack Pumpkinhead and 45K Giant Pumpkin. For the not-yet-ready-for-the-road set there is a 1/4-mile Pumpkinseed loop that includes riders on trikes and training wheels. All riders get a PFBR sports bottle, a goodie bag and candy along the way. Tickets available at the event. Book Family Farm Pumpkin Patch
This family-owned pumpkin patch beckons pumpkin enthusiasts throughout October. Pick by size from hundreds of pumpkins. Country Pumpkins
Family owned and operated farm offers eight acres of pumpkins and interesting gourds, an eight-acre uniquely designed corn maze, and a country store with jams, jellies, local honey, pumpkin butter, syrup and other farm products. Families can have bales of fun on the hay pyramid and hay slide. An observation beehive introduces children to the important role these insects play in agriculture. Proceeds of the maze benefit 4-H programs and other local non-profit organizations. On select nights the “brave at heart” (10 years and older) can visit the haunted version of the maze to get a dose of the Halloween thrills. Daytime maze is $5/person. Dairyville Orchard Festival
25th Annual Dairyville Orchard Festival at Lassen View Elementary School. Celebrate the harvest season with fresh locally grown walnuts, almonds, prunes, olives and much more. Johnny Appleseed Days
First held in 1888, this is the oldest harvest festival in the state. The 2023 fall festival celebrates Paradise’s orchard heritage with apple pie and ice cream, and fresh apples from Noble Orchards. Artisans from all over the state and beyond will sell a variety of handicrafts. The children’s area, sponsored by Paradise Unified School District, will feature face painting, nostalgic games and Johnny Appleseed with fruit and stories. Julia’s Fruit Stand

Manton Apple Festival
One of Northern California’s premier craft and art events, featuring live entertainment, apple pie baking and eating contests. Plenty of free parking is just a short walk away. North State Parent Celebrates Halloween Event
North State Parent Magazine is celebrating 30 years of providing valuable resources and information to North State families with a not-too-scary, colorful and safe Halloween evening at The Museum of Northern California Art (monca). Chico Princess Parties will be painting faces, NSP will offer an art project and there will be treats to enjoy. Tickets are $5 at the door and the funds will be used for the monca building project.
