The local art scene is truly inspiring, with new things to do, see and enjoy. So if you’ve got a creative itch to scratch, you’re in luck. We’ve put together a brief rundown of resources for art lovers in the North State art community.

Siskiyou County’s Art DROP program draws in- spiration from the Little Free Library movement, making art supplies more accessible in rural ar- eas. YHS Art Club transformed old newspaper vending machines into gorgeous Art DROP sta- tions. So, grab something that inspires you, cre- ate your masterpiece, and then either return, replace or keep those art supplies. Got extra art stuff lying around? Drop them off! You can do- nate anything—paints, pencils, charcoals, yarn, scrap fabric, wire, whatever you’ve got. Some artists have even left unfinished pieces, inviting others to add their touch. Shasta County Arts Council
The Shasta County Arts Council is excit- ed to engage the community with per- formance, visual arts and even spirits! The council offers classes on everything from jewelry-making to figure drawing to dance, so there’s never a dull moment. Want to enjoy the arts without any of the work? Check out the thought-provoking gallery exhibits. You can even tune in to SCACtv, a selection of public access channels run by the Shasta County Arts Council. And come to Downtown Red- ding for the Redding Wine and Beer fes- tival this Sept. 16 3-7pm, to take in the arts with a glass of something delicious. Tehama Arts Council
Tehama Arts has moved to a more spacious location, and they’re excit- ed about sharing their program and events, hoping to inspire artists of all ages. Children are invited to stretch their imaginations through performanc- es in the Missoula Children’s Theatre, Poetry Out Loud, and a Student Art Contest. Nurture your passion for art through a variety of art classes and workshops. Tehama Creatives
Tehama Creatives is dedicated to creating pub- lic art in Red Bluff, visually connecting spaces, inspiring walkability and attracting visitors. This art reflects Tehama County's history and evolving culture, providing a humanizing uniqueness to the constructed environment. Check out their art alleys: walls of stunning mu- rals bursting with creativity. Their beautifying efforts can also be seen throughout Corning’s city parks. Several municipal trash bins and electrical boxes have been gorgeously paint- ed, proving that a little well-placed art can turn any eyesore into a spirited celebration.
Keep your eyes out for the upcoming Wild Art Horses, life-size fiberglass horses painted by local artists. They’ll be distributed throughout Red Bluff later this summer, and walking maps will be available when the “stampede” hap- pens. And stop in Oct. 23 for Red Bluff’s first large-scale mural project, to celebrate the art and artists with live music, food and drink. Go to tehamacreatives.com or check their Face- book page.
