Join the Paradise Recreation and Park District for a free, hands-on Good Fire Workshop on Saturday, February 28, from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at Noble Park (6712 Pentz Road, Paradise). This community event explores beneficial fire as a tool for stewardship, safety, healing and resilience in the wake of the 2018 Camp Fire.
Participants can experience Indigenous cultural fire teachings, guided “pyrotherapy” (fire therapy) focused on healing wildfire trauma, and prescribed fire demonstrations with safety education and live fire. The workshop is part of PRPD’s broader efforts to strengthen neighbor-to-neighbor connection and wildfire preparedness in Paradise and surrounding communities.

10:00 – 10:15 – Introductions, sign-in, safety overview
10:15 – 11:15 – Indigenous Cultural Fire
11:15 – 12:00 – Pyrotherapy
12:00 – 1:00 – Prescribed Fire in Practice
1:00 – 1:30 – Lunch 1:30 – 1:45 – Pyrotherapy
1:45 – 2:00 – Closing remarks, tamales and refreshments over the fire
