Getting the Outside Garden Ready and Preserving what You Grow

Shasta College, in collaboration with the University of California Master Gardener program, the UC Master Food Preservers, the Redding Public Library, and the Shasta Seed Library, is hosting this gardening workshop!

Workshop topics will include:

  • Permaculture Principles
  • Bed Preparation for an Amazing Harvest.
  • Hardening off and Transplanting.
  • How to Start Composting and Composting Demonstration
  • Setting Up Irrigation for A Successful Growing Season
  • Growing your own herbs
  • Controlling weeds and bugs
  • Preserving the harvest
  • Canning basics

Classroom work will be in the Shasta College Farm Greenhouse.

Cost below covers materials and seeds.

*All ages are welcome, provided children are accompanied by an adult and are not disruptive to the class.
