Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia is a tragicomedy that explores the chaos and humor of romantic attraction alongside the existential question of free will versus fate.
The Shasta College Theatre Department will produce Arcadia, October 9 through October 18, 2026, including a special morning show for high school audiences on Friday, October 16 (for more information, contact Jessica Nieves at jnieves@shastacollege.edu).
Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this amazing production! Auditions open on August 24 and 25 at 6:00 p.m. at the Shasta College Theatre! Both community members and students are encouraged to participate. Those auditioning should prepare a one-minute contemporary comedic monologue.
Arcadia is set in a time very close to our own, when a group of scholars struggles to decipher an historical puzzle involving a hermit, a poet, and a scandalous affair. What follows is a complex, life-affirming comedy from one of the all-time great playwrights.
The production will be directed by Dr. Gregory Thorson and will feature set design by David Fraser, lighting design by Tim Dye, and costumes by Mat McDonald. For more information, contact Dr. Greg Thorson (gthorson@shastacollege.edu).
