Andrea, an LCSW/Trauma Social Worker, and her husband Jake, a fire-medic, value family and make time in their busy schedules to ensure that grandparent-bonding activities are part of their children’s lives.

Crystal has three young daughters that love to be her models when she isn’t photographing clients. Crystal lives in Anderson, CA, where she and her husband raise about 30 head of cattle. On the Cover: Nikola Hawes enjoys working alongside her husband Greg on the Historic Hawes Farm and they include their kids in daily tasks as much as possible. Nikola was honored to work with the Jeremy Stoke family in designing this year’s corn maze in honor of firefighter Jeremy, who lost his life in the Carr Fire in Redding. Come over to the farm and celebrate Jeremy’s life by exploring the maze.

Girl Scouts recently introduced forty-two new badges in STEM fields like cybersecurity, robotics, programming, and citizen science, as well as outdoor adventures such as backpacking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and rock climbing. For adventures closer to home, the Fano Family loves to visit Turtle Bay Exploration Park where they can feed the birds and visit the butterflies this time of year.

Five-year-old Penny Miller loves animals. Two years ago, she bottle-fed this kid at the Echo Mountain Boer Goat Farm, Butte Valley.

On the Cover: Brother and sister, Camilo and Eloisa enjoy spending time in each other’s company, playing and conversing together. Their friendship and dialogue often inspires their mother Joana Castañeda, a first-grade teacher at Mill Street Elementary School in Orland, to teach her students the importance of clear communication and being kind to one another. The Tranbarger home, located in the Victorian District of Red Bluff on Lincoln Street, is the lovely location for this playful photograph.

On the Cover: Mila Bradley, age 10, and friend Jackie Darrah, age 10, brave the cold to enjoy ice skating at the Siskiyou Ice Rink in Mt. Shasta, CA. Mila’s mom Laura, also pictured, has been playing ice hockey for the last four years. Read all about her experience on page  7.  This outdoor rink operates from November to February, so plan a fun day on skates before the season ends. On the Cover: Most teenagers yearn for a creative outlet - or two or three! Avery Brown studies voice and ballet. Now she’s enamored of musical theater! Studying acting for four years at the Redding School of the Arts, this eighth-grader is combining her love of singing and dancing with acting. Music naturally draws young people to learn and enjoy this language of emotion.
