DESCRIPTION:Local businesses can help young people discover their potential while adding eager workers to their teams. Shasta WorkAbility is seeking businesses in Redding\, Anderson\, Cottonwood\, Shasta Lake\, Burney and Fall River to provide work experiences for local students ages 16–22 with IEPs or 504 Plans. \nParticipating students can receive up to 120 hours of hands-on work experience\, giving them opportunities to develop job skills\, build confidence and make meaningful connections with local employers. \nThere is no cost to participating businesses. Shasta WorkAbility pays the student’s wages and handles all hiring documentation. Restaurants\, retail stores\, offices\, farms\, service businesses and other employers are encouraged to participate. \nInterested employers can learn more by emailing workability@shastacoe.org or visiting Shasta WorkAbility during the Shasta County Office of Education Open House on September 30\, from 9–11 a.m. or 4–6 p.m. \nShasta WorkAbility is a program of the Special Education Local Planning Area (SELPA).
