SUMMARY:Community Mural Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Be part of creating a lasting work of art at ScienceWorks! \nDuring the Books & Brews Nostalgic Book Fair\, local artist Ursula Barton will lead a one-of-a-kind community mural project combining science\, art and nature. Participants can throw paint- and water-filled balloons at an exterior museum wall\, creating colorful splashes and textures that Barton will transform into a permanent large-scale mural. The finished artwork will feature enlarged patterns inspired by feathers\, butterfly wings\, reptile scales\, fish skin\, microscopic life and other wonders of the natural world. \nBalloon bundles will be available during the event: one pair (1 paint + 1 water balloon) for $10\, three pairs for $25 or a full box of 15 pairs for $100. Supporters can also sponsor balloons ahead of time so children and families can participate regardless of their ability to pay. Every splash will become part of a permanent piece of public art on the Walker Street side of ScienceWorks for the community to enjoy for years to come.

SUMMARY:Godly Play at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Redding
DESCRIPTION:Godly Play is a Montessori-inspired approach to Christian formation that not only helps children explore the mystery of God’s presence in their lives but provides a working model for life-long Christian learning. \nEach Sunday\, children from the ages of 4 and up are invited to gather for a blessing in the All Saints’ sanctuary during the 9:30 am worship service; they can then proceed to Godly Play in a dedicated space where they can listen to a sacred story\, reflect on what they’ve heard\, and respond creatively by working with art materials. \nThis creative session is followed by a brief time of fellowship in which the children serve one another a small “feast.” At the close of this 45-minute Godly Play session\, children can choose to return to the sanctuary for communion or receive a blessing and dismissal.
