DESCRIPTION:The Heroic Feats of Hercules\n \nJoin us under the stars at Horseshoe Lake for a night dedicated to Hercules\, the mythic strongman who overcame impossible challenges. Learn about his famous Twelve Labors as we view the Hercules constellation shining overhead.\n\n\nExperience the beauty of the night sky over Horseshoe Lake under the new moon\, where the absence of moonlight allows the stars to shine even brighter. Join us for a guided hike through the oak woodlands and open meadows of Upper Bidwell Park\, with Horseshoe Lake as our scenic backdrop. Each hike features themed storytelling\, weaving together myths and legends about the constellations with explorations of nocturnal plant and animal adaptations. To ensure a full experience and to protect local wildlife\, please leave pets and strollers at home. While all are welcome\, these hikes are designed more for adults. We recommend bringing a Star Finder app and a headlamp with a red-light option to preserve night vision. Discover festive décor\, rich history\, and the warm spirit of tradition at Patrick Ranch Museum. \nThe Patrick Ranch Museum is dedicated to enhancing people’s understanding and appreciation of our community’s rich agricultural heritage through the presentation of its collection\, rotating exhibits\, and interpretive displays. \nThe Museum is home to the 1877 Glenwood Farmhouse\, Visitor Center\, and Gift Shop\, as well as multiple barns\, a priceless collection of artifacts\, and is located on a beautiful 28 acres between Chico and Durham. The interior of the Glenwood Farmhouse is furnished with Hester Patrick’s furniture\, antiques and artifacts. The Museum continues to evolve as we bring more of Hester Patrick’s collection to public view and receive additional exhibits and artifacts. \nThe Patrick Ranch Museum was bequeathed to the Far West Heritage Association by the last ranch owner\, Hester Grimm Patrick\, and her husband William Garrison Patrick. They championed the promotion\, documentation\, preservation\, and appreciation of its history. \nPatrick Ranch Museum opened to the public in 2010 and now offers a variety of volunteer and educational programs.
