DESCRIPTION:Matsutake mushroom season opens September 16 on the Mount Shasta and McCloud Ranger Districts of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. \nAnyone harvesting Matsutake mushrooms on National Forest System lands during the fall season must purchase a valid commercial harvest permit. Harvesting without a permit may result in a citation. \nPermit options:\n$20 minimum for four consecutive days / up to 20 pounds\n$100 for 30 consecutive days / up to 100 pounds\n$200 season permit / up to 200 pounds \nPermit holders must keep a harvest log showing picking dates and pounds harvested. \nWhere to purchase permits: \nMcCloud Ranger Station\n2019 Forest Road\, McCloud\nTuesday–Friday\, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.\nClosed 12–12:30 p.m. for lunch\nSaturday\, 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.\nClosed Sunday and Monday\nPhone: (530) 964-2184 \nMount Shasta Ranger Station\n204 W. You will see the sun dip below the horizon as the moon rises up into the sky\, gaze at the stars\, and maybe even see some of the resident wildlife along the shoreline! \nThis unique experience will leave you feeling more connected with nature! It is a great opportunity to view some of the local wildlife that calls the Forebay home\, do some star gazing\, or just take a relaxing paddle with friends and/or family. It would even make a fun date idea! \nWorried about the dark?
