DESCRIPTION:Help us protect Butte County Groundwater Dependent Ecosystems (GDEs) by volunteering your time to remove trash and other harmful toxins that pollute our waters and negatively affect the plants and animals who rely on cool\, clean\, healthy waters to thrive! \nGDEs are rapidly diminishing due to urban sprawl — and these GDEs play a critical role in supporting a wide range of species including fish\, birds\, mammals\, and riparian vegetation.  The habitat loss for local keystone species\, such as Valley Oaks and Spring Run Chinook Salmon\, is significant and devastating.  Valley Oaks\, for example\, are vital to the GDE as they support over 5\,000 other species through food and habitat provision. \nClean-up tools will be provided\, and volunteers will receive a free unique event t-shirt! \nSign-up online at our Event Website link below! \n*All volunteers will enjoy Costco pizza on us after the event\, from 12-1pm

DESCRIPTION:Join Siskiyou Land Trust and lifelong caver and researcher Mike Spiess\, on a journey to explore Pluto Cave in the Shasta Valley! We’ll learn about the geology of the Cascade Arc\, how lava tubes are formed and the features of the Shasta Valley. \nWe’ll enjoy the flora along the short ¼ mile hike to the cave and then venture into Pluto Cave up to complete darkness (about ¼ of a mile). \nSturdy shoes\, long pants\, and headlamps are required. \nPrior to the trip\, logistics and meeting place will be confirmed by email from this address: admin@siskiyoulandtrust.org. \nChildren are welcome accompanied by a parent.
