SUMMARY:Valentine's Day with Chico Swing Band
DESCRIPTION:The Chico Swing Band will present a Valentine’s Day concert and dance at the Meriam Park Barn. This 16-piece big band will play ’30s and ’40s era tunes with a Valentine’s Day theme\, with popular favorites such as “Crazy Little Thing Called Love\,” “My Funny Valentine\,” “My Heart Stood Still\,” and “I Left My Heart in San Francisco.” \nThe Chico Swing Band was formed in 2021 with members whose musical experience on saxes\, trombones\, trumpets\, and rhythm  total over a half-century. Their motto\, yet to be contested\, is “Nobody Leaves a Chico Swing Band Performance Unhappy.” \nThis is also a family event\, and kids are welcome. The playlist ranges from dreamy slow fox trots like “Moonlight Serenade\,” through swing tunes (“In the Mood”)\, Latin (“Besame Mucho” or “Kiss Me A Lot”)\, shuffle and boogie (“Boot Scootin’ Boogie” )\, and even a polka  (“Liechtensteiner Polka” saying ” Ah\, yes\, a polka\, my dear”).  \nThis is a community event sponsored by the Barn at Meriam Park.

She and her husband and co-writer Bill Collins spent years building Keyhole Mystery Theatre\, writing and performing original musical comedy and interactive murder mysteries throughout Northern California. \nBehind the Mask is their most ambitious project yet: a full-length musical they developed together\, with original compositions by Bill Reuss.
