SUMMARY:Introduction to the Power of Positive Childhood Experiences
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an introduction to the science behind positive experiences and their health and safety outcomes. \nWhat if the Positive in childhood has a lasting protective and healing impact similar to the lasting harmful impact of trauma? The resulting science of health & safety outcomes from positive experiences is ongoing and includes strong evidence that Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) have a lifelong protective and healing effect that can mitigate the negative effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). The goal of this training will be to introduce the broader community to the PCE approach and why it is being implemented in Shasta County. \nLight breakfast provided for in-person attendees. \nThis free training is open to Shasta County providers serving children ages 0-5 and their families.

SUMMARY:Invisible Wounds: Understanding & Supporting Children of Difficult Parents
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free training for Shasta County providers serving children ages 0-5 and their families. \nHome visitors and family support workers often find themselves walking into complex family dynamics—sometimes where one caregiver controls\, criticizes\, or manipulates others in the home. These situations can be confusing\, emotionally charged\, and even unsafe if not recognized and navigated carefully.\n\nThis training will help participants identify controlling or emotionally harmful behaviors that may occur in homes where one adult exhibits traits of difficult personality patterns. Attendees will learn how to recognize warning signs\, protect themselves and the vulnerable family members they serve\, and communicate in ways that avoid escalating tension or placing the client at risk once the worker leaves.\n\n\nBy the end of this 3-hour training\, participants will be able to:\n1. Recognize signs of controlling\, manipulative\, or emotionally abusive behavior within the home environment.\n2. Understand how these behaviors impact children and non-dominant caregivers.\n3. Use safe\, neutral language when interacting with families to avoid increasing risk for the victim or children.\n4. Apply strategies to maintain personal safety and emotional boundaries when visiting high-conflict homes.\n5. Identify resources and support systems available for families and professionals when emotional abuse or coercive control is suspected.\n\n\nLight breakfast provided for in-person attendees.
