Example visiting educators include the local fire department\, state park rangers\, bird or fish experts\, and more! No experience is required. \nIntermediate and independent projects: Once a student has acquired the necessary skills and confidence to work semi-independently\, the instructor will work in cooperation with each student to create projects tailored to their interest and increasing ability \nThis is a progressive project class that allows students to match their projects with their developing skills based on teacher/student evaluation. \nSkills Learned: \n\nHow to operate a sewing machine\, identify its parts\, and understand sewing terms\nHow to choose the proper sewing tools and how to use them\nHow to identify different fabrics for different projects\nHow to sew different stitches and seams\, and when to use them\nHow to follow sewing instructions to create projects and cut out a simple patterns\n\nFabrics for class projects\, machines\, threads\, tools provided.  Patterns are not included. \nWe have a curated selection of donated fabrics\, perfect for students eager to explore their creativity. DESCRIPTION:Chico Aqua Jets is a year-round competitive swim program for ages 5-18 years. We welcome all swim levels\, any time of year\, from the young swimmer who can swim a 25 yard lap to the experienced\, competitive swimmer\, and all abilities in between.  Coaches work with swimmers of all levels and ages on stroke technique and endurance\, encouraging each swimmer to reach his or her potential.  Swimmers have the option to swim year-round or participate seasonally. \nThe first step to join the team is to attend a swimmer evaluation.  Evaluations take place Monday – Friday from 3:30-4:30pm at In Motion Fitness and take approximately 15 minutes. Please sign in at the front desk as a Chico Aquajet guest if you are not an In Motion Fitness member. DESCRIPTION:This class is taught in collaboration with the Honeybee Discover Center by Emily Helton. She served as a Research and Extension Technician at the University of Florida Honey Bee Lab for six years and contributed to research on native bees\, varroa mites\, pesticides\, nutrition\, and more. Helton helped develop the University of Florida’s Online Master Beekeeper Program\, wrote the book\, “Expert Guide to Honey Bees & Beekeeping”\, and leads public education efforts at the Honeybee Discovery Center. \nThis course will introduce you to the biology of honey bees (Apis mellifera) and provides a comprehensive overview of beekeeping practices. Learn about the life cycle\, anatomy\, behavior\, and ecology of honey bees and explore essential beekeeping methods such as hive management\, honey production\, and disease control. The course combines theoretical and practical knowledge. \nThis class is available to be taken singly for continuing education purposes or general interest. It is an optional elective for the Technical Assistance Provider Certification Program.
