SUMMARY:Six Rivers Rafting: JUNIOR GUIDE CAMP/RIVER SAFETY TRAINING
DESCRIPTION:For Tweens and Teenagers (Ages 11-17) looking to have fun and learn the basics of guiding a raft and river rescue/safety techniques. \nCamp will include an outdoor “classroom” component\, but most of our time will be spent on the river with hands on learning about and practicing whitewater river skills\, and having as much fun as possible! \nThis non-competitive 4-day class will be done mostly on class II sections of the upper Trinity River (between Big Flat and Cedar Flat) but will include a day (or 2) on the class III+ Pigeon Point section. \nTraining will include\, but isn’t limited to: \n\nSteering a raft with a paddle\nUsing your crew maneuver a raft\nReading the river\nLines for rapids\nEddies\nGetting unstuck\nFlipping a raft\nHand signals\nRescue rope bags\n\n…and more! \nEach day will include a new on-river game and on-land river guide game. \nSkunk Point group campsite has been rented for the duration of the weekend\, plus one day on either end\, so the kids can camp there with a parent or other responsible adult. \nWe’ll feed the kids lunch each day\, but you’ll be responsible to providing dinners and breakfasts. \nInstructors will come pick up the kids each morning at 10am and return them to camp between around 4pm. \nParents are welcome to book day rafting trips with 6 Rivers Rafting during the days\, go hiking in the Trinity Alps\, or just relax by the river. \nAll necessary rafting gear is provided at no charge. \nThere will be a minimum of 1 instructor per every 5 students. \nStudents are welcome to join for less than the full time at a rate of $135/day.

Discover festive décor\, rich history\, and the warm spirit of tradition at Patrick Ranch Museum. \nThe Patrick Ranch Museum is dedicated to enhancing people’s understanding and appreciation of our community’s rich agricultural heritage through the presentation of its collection\, rotating exhibits\, and interpretive displays. \nThe Museum is home to the 1877 Glenwood Farmhouse\, Visitor Center\, and Gift Shop\, as well as multiple barns\, a priceless collection of artifacts\, and is located on a beautiful 28 acres between Chico and Durham. The interior of the Glenwood Farmhouse is furnished with Hester Patrick’s furniture\, antiques and artifacts. The Museum continues to evolve as we bring more of Hester Patrick’s collection to public view and receive additional exhibits and artifacts. \nThe Patrick Ranch Museum was bequeathed to the Far West Heritage Association by the last ranch owner\, Hester Grimm Patrick\, and her husband William Garrison Patrick. They championed the promotion\, documentation\, preservation\, and appreciation of its history. \nPatrick Ranch Museum opened to the public in 2010 and now offers a variety of volunteer and educational programs.

SUMMARY:Art Classes for Children - Saturday Session
DESCRIPTION:Students learn the basics of drawing and painting with an emphasis on fun. The first two weeks of the month are focused on drawing and the later weeks on painting. Students work with various mediums\, including charcoal\, watercolor\, tempera\, colored pencils and watercolor pencils. More advanced students can work in acrylics\, pastel\, oil and collage mediums. Form\, perspective\, shading\, cartooning\, and painting methods are discussed as part of instruction. Biographies and works of master artists are also discussed during classes. \nOnce a week classes are offered year round.  Sign up any time!  Class size is limited\, allowing individual attention. \nSupplies are included for beginner and intermediate levels. There is a one-time $25 registration fee for new students. Drop in rate is $45. Private and semi-private lessons are also available\, please inquire.
