- BEC’s RARE At Home Challenge Series – Every Tuesday offers a post with a new activity and topic – help for you and your family to implement sustainable habits at home. Some you may already do and some may be an issue that you hadn’t yet considered.
- Topic 1: FOOD WASTE.
- Did you know a large contributor to greenhouse gasses such as methane from landfills is our food waste? Not only can that food be kept from the landfill, but it can also be turned into new soil used to fertilize your plants and increase soil health and productivity. Composting is easy, can be done at home, and can be created using items you might typically throw in the trash or recycling. If you have a plastic water jug or empty 2-liter soda bottle around, you are set to start this composting experiment. Check back on your bin daily and watch natural processes turn your food waste into compost that you can use. Full instructions.
