Localicious: “What Mom Really Wants” – Mother’s Day Brunch

Macaroni necklaces and sticky kisses. Toys in the bath tub and Legos on the floor from an entire afternoon of fun. Snacks in purses where cute, thin wallets use to be. Being a mom is a whole new world. The joys are endless and so are the messes.

Moms are not complicated. We don’t want for much. A simple hand-written card from a three-year-old will melt our hearts. But if we moms are honest, truly honest, we do have a wish list this Mother’s Day. Brunch is the thing and how is the question.

The perfect Mother’s Day brunch can be done in so many ways, from a quiet brunch in bed, with mimosas, to an early breakfast watching the sunrise. Whether you go out or stay in, here are some easy ways to show her just how special she is.

Tea & Crumpets

That’s right. We love a spot of tea and some fancy crumpets with a good dollop of royal cream and lemon curd. A little spoon on the side of a flowered tea cup brings out the calm in every mom. You can order authentic, natural curds from Two English Ladies, based in Butte County, from their website or pick up products at the Chico Saturday Farmers Market. twoenglishladies.com

Seize The Day

Brunch on the go! When mom wants to get outside and soak up some sun, order fresh juice from Live Life Juice Co. to take on a hike with the family. Mom will feel absolutely doted on. For an extra bonus, pack the snacks and water bottles for her. Try Pretty in Pink or Liquid Gold juice for a little extra pep in your step. livelifejuiceco.com

Indulge

Sure, ice cream is supposed to be for dessert, but it’s her day. Celebrate with a special brunch. Enjoy ice cream like you’ve never tasted before at Taste & See Creamery in Redding. From Nutella Bonfire S’mores to Toast and Jam, the flavors are worth the indulgence. 1419 Market Street, tasteandseecreamery.com

Waffles ‘n’ Bacon

Let mom sleep in and make her brunch right in the comfort of home. Chico’s Rancho Llano Seco is known for high quality bacon as well as heirloom beans. Their products are available online and locally at the Chico Saturday Farmer’s Market.

Pair Llano Seco pork with this waffle recipe to really hit Mother’s Day out of the park. The waffles are grain free, making them perfect for just about anyone, no matter their dietary needs. With crispy golden edges and maple syrup mixed in, they’re sweet enough to be enjoyed all by themselves or accompanied with a simple fruit compote.

However you brunch this Mother’s Day, do it with style. For every boo-boo healed with a hug and pancake made with a berry smile, your mom deserves the best. Celebrate mom and brunch like you mean it.
