The fun begins when Alice (Hope Kozielski) tumbles down a rabbit hole and encounters the White Rabbit (Spencer Gosselin), who quickly scurries away. In her quest to catch up with the rabbit, Alice discovers it’s necessary to shrink into Small Alice (Bliss Kozielski), and grow to Tall Alice (Gabby Billheimer) to maneuver herself through Wonderland. Along the way she meets the DoDo Bird (Seven Mills), Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum (True Kozielski and Luciano Castaldo), the Caterpillar (Tia Watkins), the Mad Hatter (Zoe Karch), the March Hare (Annika Edstrom), and the Queen of Hearts (Bailey Martin), all of whom play a role in helping Alice discover who she really is.
Sing along with Alice and her friends to “Zippidy Doo Da,” “The Un-Birthday Song,” and “I’m Late!” Weed your way through the garden with the Girls of the Golden Afternoon, paint the roses with a deck of cards, and try your luck at Simon Says … but be careful not to lose your head!
Alice in Wonderland Jr. is being performed by 53 enthusiastic and talented local kids from the Blue Room Young Company. Director Tom Billheimer II is excited to bring this musical production to Chico’s Laxson Auditorium stage. He notes, “Anything can happen in Wonderland, which allows the audience and actors to open their imaginations.” Tom is proud of his cast and appreciates the opportunity to work with young artists possessing so much talent and passion for their art.
Zoe Karch plays the Mad Hatter and says this will be her 11th Laxson show. She’s looking forward to “bringing wonder and light to the stage, where every kid can see their Wonderland come to life.”
Mark your calendars for the evening performance of Alice in Wonderland Jr. on Thursday, September 25th! The performance begins at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 adult, $13 senior, and $8 youth, and are available online at http://www.chicoperformances.com, or by calling the University Box Office located in CSU, Chico’s Sierra Hall; (530) 898-6333.
