After only four years of dance classes, Howarth auditioned for the Joffrey Ballet School’s summer intensive program. He was notified that he had been accepted into the ballet and contemporary programs. A few days after, he was stunned to receive another notice stating that in re-assessing his audition, the school also wanted to extend an invitation to their more advanced programs: the Pre-Professional track, the Bolshoi Ballet program in Moscow, and the four-year conservatory in New York City.
Acceptance into these programs is a high honor, and Noel Julian-Anker, artistic director of Dance Red Bluff says, “Joseph will go far because he works hard. He takes correction and pushes past exhaustion & frustration with fierce determination.” His challenge now is overcoming the financial hurdles a Joffrey education presents. Joseph’s mother, Sally Howarth, is determined to make it happen. Her church, extended family and friends are pitching in, and she is researching grants, loans & scholarships. A donation fund is set up at Chase bank under “Joseph Howarth.” For more information call Noel Julian-Anker at (530) 527-4877.
