Mt. Shasta Nordic Center offers the only groomed cross country ski trails between Bend, OR and Truckee, CA. — a wonderful outdoor space with programs for a diverse population on the slopes of majestic Mount Shasta.
Members of the Mt. Shasta area Nordic community founded the non-profit Nordic Center to facilitate participation in education programs, competitive events and Nordic skiing as a fun, healthy, aerobic activity that enhances the community’s legacy of Nordic skiing and benefits future generations. In all its activities and events, the center strives to inspire an active winter lifestyle in both enthusiasts and the general public, from beginner to expert.
Making wonderful memories in the fresh air
Mt. Shasta Nordic Center offers a positive environment to encourage people of all ages and abilities to get outside in the fresh air and enjoy some open space and exercise. Paj Kane, an avid Nordic skier, says, “Being able to spend time with my family at the Mt Shasta Nordic Center has meant the world to us. We have made so many wonderful memories as a family and the kids will be able to enjoy Nordic skiing for the rest of their lives.”
With safety a top priority, Mt Shasta Nordic Center staff, faculty and visitors will be following guidelines from the CDC, local agencies and the Cross-Country Ski Area Association. Social distancing protocols have been implemented, and face coverings are required around the base area and rental trailer. These measures will ensure the success and longevity of the Nordic ski season so everyone can enjoy the groomed community ski trails this winter.
Skate and cross-country skiing for all ages and abilities
Located on the Ski Park Highway, 3.5 miles off Highway 89, approximately 10 miles from Mt. Shasta/I-5, the Mt.Shasta Nordic Center offers 23.5 km of pristine trails for skate & classic cross-country skiing for all ages and abilities, as well as a 2.5 km trail for snowshoeing.
Services include classic and skate ski rentals, snowshoe rentals and private lessons. Hours are Wed- Sun, 9am-4pm. Day use trail passes, season passes, rentals and ski instruction packages are all available for purchase online.
