Storytelling and Storytime Workshop with Renowned Author Heather McNeil

  • This event has passed.

December 13, 2025 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

What’s the difference between story reading and story reading?  Why are both important in families, schools, and libraries?  What is early literacy?  How do you learn to tell a story and what makes reading a story memorable?  All of these questions and more will be answered by Heather McNeil, a certified early literacy educator, children’s librarian, and professional storyteller.  She will present her 10 reasons why storytelling is important, the 6 reasons why reading aloud to young children is vital for their literacy skills, and her tried and true format for a successful storytime.

Heather McNeil is a 3rd generation storyteller, following the tradition of her grandfather, aunt, and mother.  She has performed throughout the United States and has represented the U.S. at international storytelling festivals in both New Zealand and Scotland.

Participants in this workshop will receive one of Heather’s wonderful storybooks!
