North State Parent is a free, monthly publication, available both digital and print, with a growing distribution. We proudly serve the North State counties of Butte, Glenn, Shasta, Siskiyou and Tehama. This video is a few years old and doesn’t express some things we have changed. Our print magazine circulation is now over 20,000 magazine and print editions publish four time per year and digital magazines publish each month. Please see our theme list for further details.
We fill our pages with places to go and things to do focusing on parenting, community, pregnancy and birth, education, newborns, toddlers, youth and teens. We feature seasonal and holiday festivities, school directories, summer camps, instruction courses and groups, and so much more. We aim to nurture the family unit by presenting positive, informative and sometimes low-cost resources.
Publisher Pamela Newman began the magazine in 1993. Her idea then as now, was to keep parents and those who love children well informed about the variety of positive resources in the North State communities. While northern California is a wonderful place to raise children, unfortunately, there is also a high rate of joblessness, alcoholism and child abuse. As a resource publication we are committed to bringing educational information to parents, passionately believing that doing so can result in opportunities for enrichment and betterment of the lives of all our North State families.
We welcome your feedback about how we’re doing! Please contact Pamela Newman at pn@northstateparent.com or at (530) 926-1287.
