Canine-Assisted Reading

Children read to canine reading companions in a stress-free environment. Helps improve reading and communication skills; especially effective for children who struggle with reading.

The Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D) Program; Redding Branch Library. Children ages 5-12 may read to registered therapy dogs from 1-3pm on the third Saturday of each month, except Aug & Dec. Free. 1100 Parkview Ave.

The StoryTail Tutors Program; Chico Branch Library. Beginning, struggling or reluctant readers ages 5-11 are invited to read to certified therapy dogs on the fourth Saturday of each month at 2pm. Free. 1108 Sherman Ave. (530) 891-2726.
