Roses & Rust is a creative and inspiring market event that takes place each spring and fall in Shasta County, California.  Twice awarded the honor of being one of the “Top 10 Romantic Flea Markets in the Nation” by Romantic Homes magazine, and featured in other national magazines including Flea Market Style, Romantic Cottage and Flea Market Décor, this year’s market showcases 85 talented vendors offering fabulous treasures for your home and garden.

You’ll find a huge selection of unique vintage and antique home and garden furnishings, décor, salvaged & up-cycled furniture and re-purposed goods, hand-made jewelry, and clothing. Styles range from French Chic to Rustic Farm Chic to Industrial. There’s also music and delicious food!

Roses & Rust is presented by passionate entrepreneurs Bonnie Burhart, Lynni Miller and Zizi Ukestad. The market started in 2010, fueled by the desire to create a fun, inspiring event that showcases creative businesses, boosts the local economy, and most of all, helps people appreciate the beauty in items that may otherwise have been thrown away, and in doing so cuts down on what’s going into our landfills.

This year vintage trailer enthusiasts will be thrilled as the market introduces the new Roses & Rust Vintage Trailer Rally! Known as “glampering,” refurbished vintage trailers will be open for viewing during the event – some will be for sale. Additionally, in response to many requests, Roses & Rust will “hit the road” to bring a summer market to Boise, Idaho!

The North State market has a new location this year, says Bonnie Burhart, one of the founders of Roses & Rust. “We are happy to announce that the 2014 markets will be held at the Shasta District Fairgrounds in Anderson, which gives us the room to add the Vintage Trailer Rally and to expand in other ways. We are thrilled to be working with the fairground’s staff.”

People travel to the market not only from all over Northern CA, but from all the western states and beyond. “A nice couple from Montana flew here just to attend our market last year – we felt honored to have them make the trip!” says Burhart.

The 2014 spring market, known as “Marché du Printemps” is held April 11 and 12; the autumn market, aka “Marché d’Automne” is held September 12 and 13.

A Friday night Soirée the first evening, 5:30 to  8:30 p.m., raises funds for local nonprofit  KIXE TV, and offers “first opportunity” shopping, live music, and giveaways of “Rusty Bucks” to spend at the market. Saturday’s main market runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Several vendors offer creative workshops during the event, and after the event at their own shops and studios.

Tickets for the Friday evening Soirée and Saturday market are $15; Saturday-only admission is $6. Children under age 16 are free with parent.

“We give thanks to our customers, and to our vendors who make the market what it is by working so hard to build beautiful displays that add the “wow” factor,” says Burhart.
