Get Inspired: North State Home Shows Provide One-Stop Shopping For Home And Holiday Needs

As the seasons change and the weather starts to cool down, it may be time to think about fixing up your house, remodeling, repairing, and getting ready for the holidays.

Two home shows in the North State provide excellent ideas for home improvement: The Chico Fall Home and Garden Show at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds, and the Fall Home and Holiday Show at the Shasta District Fairgrounds. Local vendors from the North State will be available at these two shows to provide you with great ideas ranging from upgrading your kitchen, to doing some needed home repairs, to decorating for the holidays.

Chico Fall Home and Garden Show, Butte County

The Chico Fall Home and Garden Show, presented by Coolidge Public Relations, is being held on Saturday, October 27 and Sunday October 28. It’s one of the largest fall home shows offered in the North State, featuring over 350 home and garden exhibits and services. Attendees can talk directly with contractors, plan for future projects, and even schedule appointments. Local agricultural products are available, along with on-site cooking demonstrations.

Andrew Coolidge, owner of Coolidge Public Relations

Andrew Coolidge, owner of Coolidge Public Relations, began the Home Show in Chico seven years ago. Andrew is a native of Loma Rica, a small town near Grass Valley, and is the father of two young children. He has lived in Chico for 20 years and is currently running for Chico City Council.

Also presented by the Home Show is one of Butte County’s larges art contests, the Recycled Art Competition, something the whole family can enjoy. Andrew started the contest three years ago in collaboration with a local garbage company. Over 100 entries from both professional and amateur artists of all ages create interesting and creative art projects using recycled materials. Home Show attendees vote on their favorite recycled art pieces, and prizes are awarded to the winning artists. For those interested in entering the competition, the entry form can be found on the Home Show’s website or in the advertisement below.

In addition to art, the Chico Horticultural Society is collaborating with the Chico Home Show to present a Flower Show. An entire building is devoted to showcasing flowers, and master gardeners will be available to provide the latest information on plants, flowers and gardening techniques.

Fall 2012 Home and Holiday Show, Shasta County

In Shasta County, the Fall 2012 Home and Holiday Show is another very successful and professional North State consumer show. Presented by Popovics Productions Inc., it takes place on Saturday October 13 and Sunday October 14 at the Shasta District Fairgrounds in Anderson. The Home and Holiday Show provides a variety of resources for new home owners, home owners searching for remodeling and renovation ideas, or customers interested in high-end luxury extras.

Jeff Eckelbarger, owner of Popovic Productions, is a local businessman who also owns Cookies and Yogurt in Redding. Born and raised in Redding, Jeff and his mother Shirley Eckelbarger have operated the Home and Holiday Show for 32 years. It originally started out as a holiday show, and later evolved into a home show. Returning with a holiday theme once more, Jeff says the fairground location is a beautiful fall-season venue. He is very proud of the local aspect of the show; nearly all the vendors are local to the area. “We live here and want to spend our money here,” states Jeff.

One of the Home and Holiday Show’s most enjoyable exhibits, which kids of all ages will love, is the model railroad display operated by the Shasta Garden Railroad Society.  The model railroad is being constructed to include all the features of a holiday-themed railroad scene.

The North State is fortunate to have these two exceptional home shows, each providing a place where you can shop in one central location, offering an easy way to fill your every need, such as a new appliance, air conditioning services, interior design ideas, gifts for the holiday, home theater and entertainment items, or other services for improving your home. The large variety of exhibits, along with each show’s unique family-friendly offerings, offers parents an excellent way to explore new home ideas and is a great weekend activity for the whole family!
