Dear Readers October 2012

Pamela and young friends gather for an early autumn river clean-up day.

Happy Anniversary to North State Parent!

For more than nineteen years, we’ve been sharing parenting and family-related information with North State families and teachers. We are appreciative of our many advertisers who sponsor this publication through their advertising efforts.

I remember sitting down with my sons when they were young and just learning how to write. We created thank you/appreciation cards for the local stores we found helpful, and also for the promoters of fun community events we had attended. Needless to say, it was a good writing exercise for all of us! Today, it would likely be a comment on facebook!

If you, like us, feel grateful for those in the community who support North State Parent, please be sure to offer them a thank-you. Drop them a line, give them a call, or let them know when you visit their businesses or events.

Each October we share with you the inside scoop on some local businesswomen/moms we fondly call “Mamaprenuers.” We hope you enjoy reading about these dedicated and hard-working women who share their business talents with us.

New for our readers is our Parent to Parent online blog written by parent educator Kristen Stroud. You’ll find it at: http://www.northstateparent.com/parent-to-parent. We hope you find the information insightful … you may want to bookmark it for easy access. Please let your friends, PTA, parent support groups and school newsletter editors know about Parent to Parent.

At North State Parent, our satisfaction comes from offering ongoing support and enrichment to our readers; that sense of satisfaction is our reward for trying to make a better world.

We hope you enjoy some fun at the many North State farms and autumn events this month. You’ll certainly find much to choose from in our annual Harvest Map on page 15, and of course in our Going Places calendar section.

Happy Halloween and harvest season!
